Small Actions, Big Impact: Navigating Life’s Moments

Small actions have the ability to compound – for good or bad. But, beware because the enemy lives for small moments.

In February, during a particularly difficult moment in life, I bought four small succulents. They felt like peace, hope, and beauty in a moment where life felt dark.

At checkout, the cashier said, “Make sure you don’t overwater these. They’re not like a regular plant.” I thanked her and drove home.

I’ve pondered her words since that time. A series of small, seemingly insignificant choices would make or break the life of our new plants – symbolic of current life trials.

I placed the plants on our kitchen windowsill. Here, I enjoy and evaluate their needs and appreciate their beauty daily. It isn’t a significant task. But the days have added up, and we have enjoyed these little beauties for a couple of months now. Seemingly insignificant decisions have increased and sustained the lives of our plants.

In difficult times, it’s painfully easy to look back and recognize the small decisions that eventually led up to outcomes that we never wanted or intended.

Like the succulent, we must live our lives in the light and open. Constantly evaluating our needs. Recognizing and healing past traumas {we all have them!}, learned negative behaviors, and destructive habits. In these small moments, we grow until one day we realize we’ve built the life of our dreams.

The enemy lives for small moments. But have no fear because we all make mistakes. And, just like the people in our lives who love us unconditionally, God will give us grace and forgiveness.

“But you, my Lord, are a God of compassion and mercy; you are very patient and full of faithful love.”

–  Psalm 86:15

Live your life with positive intention and consciousness, friends. Don’t underestimate the power of the small moments.
