Strengthen & Rejuvenate

Strengthen and Rejuvenate. That was Father’s sermon today. And, it couldn’t have come at a better time. Sometimes I start to question if God hears my pleas, my prayers for rest.

These last two weeks I’ve not gotten much sleep. Between sleeping in a hotel with the kids, to having a sick kid after we got home to a three-year-old that just won’t sleep through the night. I’m tired. My body, my mind, my spirit, and even (I’m embarrassed to admit) my faith.

I cried out loud last night. Why? Why will you not give me rest?! I needed to cry. I needed to say it. I asked him to speak to me to show me the way.

And then I felt guilty because there are people dealing with so many more heartbreaking things than lack of sleep. Yet, that’s my cross right now.

And God doesn’t decipher the severity of troubles. He’s with us and for us in all of our times of need.

I don’t know what he’s trying to teach me. I’ve questioned that for 12 years. None of our children slept through the night until they were 4…about the time we brought a new one home. So, just another 1.5 years of this sleepless torture! (And no, we will not be bringing another one home!) Whatever he’s trying to teach me, I must be a really slow learner.

This morning though, in the light of day, I woke up feeling refreshed. I had enough time to get ready for church and then sit out on the patio with the kids enjoying a cup of coffee and laughing with each of them. Then I went to church and the sermon was just what I needed.

Strengthen and rejuvenate. Father talked about how we all have different personalities and that we would need different things to fulfill this need and to make us feel strong and renewed.

I thought I needed sleep. (And I still think that couldn’t hurt!) Yet, I feel strengthened and renewed after a strong cup of coffee, laughter with my kiddos, and a good church sermon where I know God has spoken directly to me. Mainly, I needed to reconnect with Him.

How is God helping you to Strengthen and Rejuvenate?

XOXO
